About the Role:

This Director-level role sits within the FRPPE – Risk Technology team. As a Java/Database Developer, you will design and develop innovative, high-performance software solutions and drive the modernization and agile agenda. You will collaborate closely with business lines, understand their requirements, and help transform how Morgan Stanley operates technologically.

Morgan Stanley is seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer to join the Fixed Income Technology team. You will be part of a global development group, designing and building modern technology stacks to power digital platforms that enhance efficiencies for investment teams. As a backend-focused developer, you will collaborate with business users and technologists to create strategic, optimized solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop modern, modular applications using industry-standard coding and testing practices.
  • Actively engage in agile ceremonies and contribute toward team objectives.
  • Apply modern software development methodologies to produce scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with global teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and end users to design technical solutions.
  • Lead with innovative ideas and contribute to the team's technical direction.

Requirements:

Must have:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience developing enterprise-level Java web applications.
  • Strong skills in Core Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
  • Experience writing unit, component, and integration tests.
  • Familiarity with relational database technologies and SQL.
  • Exposure to microservices and distributed systems architecture.
  • Experience working with Python and building REST APIs.

Good to have:

  • Experience with frontend frameworks like Angular or React.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with modern build tools such as Jenkins and Gradle.
  • Basic understanding of financial markets, particularly equities, is a plus.
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
